"And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden
shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from
off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the
anointing." (Isa. 10:27)
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath
anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me
to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the
captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at
liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year
of the Lord." (Luke 4:18)
When
we talk about the anointing of God we really could spend
several days, but in this teaching we want to hit a few
highlights of the anointing.
Number One
How do you know that you are anointed? You
receive the anointing when you become born again. "Jesus
answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God"
(John 3:3).
Once a person receives
Jesus as Lord and becomes born again, that person is anointed.
The word Christ means "Anointing and His Anointed," so in
salvation you become anointed with Christ, because Jesus
Christ comes into your life.
The word
Anointing under (B) Charisma in the Vines Expository
Dictionary says that believers have an anointing from the Holy
One, which indicates that this anointing renders them Holy,
separating them to God. It is also referred to as the painted
on, or smeared on ability of God. "Now He who established us
with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God" (2 Cor
1:21).
The anointing that comes from
salvation is what I call a well anointing. "Therefore with joy
shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation" (Isa.
12:3). "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give
him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him
shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting
life" (John 4:14).
A person can preach
and teach under this anointing, and also flow in a limited
healing anointing. Under this anointing a person will be
limited in two areas:
1) Prayer Life 2) Holy Ghost power
Number Two A deeper anointing can be
experienced. "But God hath revealed them unto us by his
Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep
things of God" (1 Cor 2:10). The anointing I am referring to
is a "river anointing."
The word river,
in the Vines Expository Dictionary, denotes a river is like a
stream or a flood or floods. Or the effect's of the Holy
Spirit's operation in and through a Believer.
In
the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and
cried, saying, 'If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and
drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said,
out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.' (But this
spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should
receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that
Jesus was not yet glorified). (John 7:37-39)
With
the river anointing, your prayer life will be 100 percent
enhanced! Because the Holy Spirit in you with your spirit can
pray out the mysteries of God.
"For he
that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but
unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit
he speaketh mysteries" (1 Cor 14:2).
With the river anointing you will be
a stronger witness for Jesus Christ because you will be
anointed with Holy Ghost power. "But ye shall receive power,
after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in
Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts
1:8).
An example of the river
anointing can be found in John 18:1-6. It tells of Judas
coming with a band of men to arrest Jesus to take Him away for
trial. "When Jesus was asked who He was, He responded by
saying I AM He, and when He said I AM He the whole band of men
fell backward to the ground." A band of men was about 500 men.
There was a mighty river flow of the anointing that hit those
men.
Great Works With The Anointing
Today we can flow in the same power Jesus
did. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than
these shall he do; because I go unto my Father" (John 14:12).
"And these signs shall follow them that
believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall
speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if
they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they
shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover" (Mark
16:17-18).
So today, we are anointed
just as Jesus was anointed while He was on the earth. So let's
go and do the works of Jesus.
